How one East Bristol venue puts art at the heart of the community
To mark the Music Venues Trust’s inaugural Venues Day, a short film looks at the incredible work of one venue in east Bristol.
The film is made by Locality, the national membership network for community organisations.
Locality praises Trinity Community Arts in St Jude’s for using art “to engage, empower and inspire”.
“The Trinity Centre, where Trinity Community Arts is based, is a landmark in the east of Bristol and one of the few remaining truly independent arts venues in the city,” say Locality.
“Trinity Community Arts believe in – and through their activities prove – the value of community art, be it a vehicle for change or a place to inspire.”
Trinity CEO Emma Harvey said: “In a world where people are quite polarised online, in spaces where difference can be quite scary.
“In a physical space when you’re enjoying something, whether you’re having fun just getting down, having a dance or making something and being really proud of that thing that you made, art just is quite magical.”
