Filton students prepare dinner in aid of homeless and mental health charities
College students from Filton have been praised for their hands on approach to fundraising.
SGS College’s level 1 Enterprise students hosted a gala dinner to raise money for two good causes - St Mungo’s homeless charity and Bristol's mental health charity OTR (Off the Record).
Prior to the event the students put a lot of effort into their planning. In the days leading up to the event they even gave up their free time over the half-term break, working long hours each day to ensure their project would be a success.
Through sale of tickets to the event and the auction held on the night, the students raised £1520 to be split between the two charities.
Throughout April and May other groups of Enterprise students also ran projects including the sale of customised hampers, a community fete and car boot sale, raising hundreds of pounds for their chosen charities.
