Bristol City Community Trust headed to Westminster Palace on Monday to be presented with the Community Club of the Year award for the South West & Wales (March 4th).

Bristol City were among six EFL clubs recognised for the outstanding work they conduct in their respective local communities and were invited to Parliament to receive their regional award.

City will now be put forward alongside Coventry City, Portsmouth, Queens Park Rangers, Rotherham United, and Wigan Athletic for the chance to win the 2019 Checkatrade Community Club of the Year, with the overall winner being announcement in April.

The Trust’s education and employability projects and outcomes particularly impressed the judges with the environment created for learning and the commitment of the team to supporting students beyond their learning experience proving a standout to the panel.

The ongoing work of the youth council also continued to impress the judges and played a large part in City retaining this award for the second year running.

Staff from the Trust were accompanied by Bristol South MP Karin Smyth and two students from the Trust’s BTEC Level 3 Sports Diploma course, who joined the Trust's Chief Executive Officer Dan White on stage to accept the award, which was presented by EFL Chairperson Debbie Jevans and Sky Sports News presenter Hayley McQueen.

“It is an absolute honour to be selected as one of the top five Community Trust's in the country again," White said after the ceremony. "I am immensely proud of all the work that we carry out at the Trust.

“Being invited to this ceremony, and hearing about all the amazing work that community trust's across the country carry out, is a truly humbling experience and it makes me all the more honoured to be shortlisted for the award of best Community Trust.”
