Former addicts have described how performing in a recovery choir has helped transform their lives.

The Bristol Recovery Choir was founded back in 2014 for people specifically affected by addiction to alcohol and drugs.

During the past five years, more than 200 people from across the city have taken part in a bid to overcome their personal demons.

The choir has had dozens of public performances, including on Songs of Praise, BBC Points West and at memorial services by Bereavement Through Addiction.

Bristol Drugs Project, the organisation behind the project, says the choir increases feelings of confidence and self-esteem among members as well as lowering anxiety.
