“I want to give a voice to people who wouldn’t usually get a platform for their thoughts,” says Clara Rose Bullock, founder of a new podcast. “I want people to become interested in the community around them.”

Bristol Voices hopes to create conversations surrounding diversity by talking to people in different areas of the city about their everyday lives.

After having the idea for some time, Clara decided to “stop putting it off” and tell the untold stories from people around the city.

Having contacted community centres and posting on social media, Clara has successfully spread the word out about the new project and has had lots of people get in touch.

The 24-year-old, who also works as a freelance journalist, wanted to explore the tales that go beyond the usual politics and court reports that are read in local papers. Anyone can take part and discuss what is important to them and tell their story.

“I have always been interested in local journalism and how it can form and strengthen communities,” says Clara. “What if we could listen to our neighbours and talk about what’s important to them? I think it would be a great way to celebrate diversity and be able to understand each other better.

“I am sure that there are some great stories out there just waiting to be told.”
