A new charity campaign is launching this month to make cancer care in Bristol the best it can be.

Bristol Against Cancer launches on 7 September and features hospital staff, former and current patients, and the people of Bristol and beyond coming together to help cancer patients at Bristol city centre hospitals.

It is a campaign by Above & Beyond, the NHS charity for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW).

The charity raises money for things over and above what the NHS can provide, including safe, modern and friendly environments, innovative research, the latest equipment and staff training.

Paul Kearney, Above & Beyond CEO, said: “It’s time to talk about the other ‘C’ word. Cancer has continued to affect the lives of thousands of local people over the last few months.

“We need the people of Bristol and beyond to come together again and support cancer patients across the South West and ensure they get the best care possible.”

With help from its incredible supporters, Above & Beyond plans to invest £2million into cancer services across the hospitals.

Paul said: “We want to provide NHS staff in Bristol city centre hospitals with the support, environment, equipment and facilities to deliver the best care to their patients.

“We believe in the NHS. But we know it can’t do what it needs to without us.

“Please join Bristol Against Cancer and help make cancer care in Bristol the best it can be.”
