“I started going to Empire Fighting Chance in 2018, I was referred to help challenge and deal with my mental health issues as well as learn to box. My mentor Courtney, and everyone at Empire has helped me get through some really difficult times and so I decided to ask Courtney if he wanted to do a sky dive with me to raise money for Empire Fighting Chance.

They have helped me so much that I wanted to give something back which can help raise money for more young people to get amazing boxing training and support just like I have at Empire.

Courtney has helped me so much with any worries or struggles I have had in the past and he has shared his own similar experiences he had growing up which has helped me so much. This is why I wanted to do it with him to have my trainer and now friend facing a fear together.

Empire Fighting Chance is the one place that has helped me manage my mental health issues, I am going into my second year of uni and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them, they helped me at my lowest points and I want to raise money and support the amazing work they do.”

Chloe’s skydive is 19th August. Her is her fundraising page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/courtney-young-skydive

More about Empire Fighting Chance

We were born on Bristol’s streets to fight the impact of deprivation on young people’s lives. Rising from the Empire Amateur Boxing Club in inner city Bristol, we have grown to become a regional charity using a pioneering approach that harnesses the power of boxing.

We exploit boxing’s grittiness to attract young people and use gaps between physical activities to inspire changes in how they think and behave. Young people do not access a ‘service’ but participate in sport and gain support in ways that feel natural. As a result, they turn up, trust us and make changes in their lives.
