A Coronation Street legend and two kids from South Bristol have ‘wrapped’ filming a new movie written, created, set and filmed in Hartcliffe.

Acclaimed character actor Bruce Jones, a household name as Les Battersby in the soap, got behind the counter of a newsagents in South Bristol, to star alongside Caleb Stevens, 11, from Hartcliffe, and 12-year-old Katie Francis, from Knowle West.

They were making a short film called Shiney, which was the brainchild of award-winning Hartcliffe writer and filmmaker Paul Holbrook - and it took over both Whitchurch and Hartcliffe last week as a touch of Hollywood film-making magic came to the streets of South Bristol.

The film’s base was in the Shield and Dagger pub in Whitchurch, and the action around a newsagents was just across the road.
