A father and son who stopped cars and buses during a walk dressed as Stormtroopers said it was good to "make others feel happy".

The Star Wars fans were spotted walking along the main route into Bradley Stoke, near Bristol, on Sunday.

The pair, who want to remain anonymous, said several buses stopped and motorists looped around roundabouts to see the unusual sight.

People on Facebook praised their antics as "absolutely amazing".

The duo have appeared at Comic Con events where the six-year-old son is constantly asked the famous "aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper" line from the 1977 film A New Hope.

This time, about 100 people stopped for photos when the troopers went out for their weekend patrol.

The 39-year-old dad, who lives locally, said: "There was lots of waving and lots of beeping.

"There were people going around the roundabout twice and doing loops so they could take pictures."

His son said it was good walking in the custom-made outfit and his favourite part was "getting pictures" with passers-by.

Writing on Facebook, Rachel Hill said: "I saw them walking home, looked so cute! Big and little Stormtroopers holding hands."

Kasey Lewis said it "made my morning seeing those two".
