With the help of a local community development worker and Bristol City Council Housing Department, a local St Paul’s resident has rallied some action and helped bring a community garden back to life.
Tara created a poster, sent out invites, and gathered seven local residents all keen to do something in what they called their new ‘super garden.’
Bristol City Council Housing Department arranged to have the overgrown area cut back, meaning that it would be easier for a new group to take it on and the local community have had a couple of work days, tidied the place up and started planting. They now have 20 people in their WhatsApp group and it’s really turned into a community effort for everybody involved.
“This has brought together a great bunch of people around revitalising the Community Garden site in St Pauls. A massive amount has been achieved in just two sessions. Thank you, thank you. ……And wonderful conversations have emerged. So wonderful when a plan comes together! I love gardening for that. It was for me a gentle return & stepping back into being in a community effort since last year. And it has been uplifting and inspiring.’ (Tara)
