Stories From Our City is a 15 week course that covers all the basics of film production, from narrative building and script writing and all the way through to editing.

Bristol24/7 is launching the course as part of its Better Bristol initiative and the course is due to begin this October, culminating with a screening event in March 2020.

Workshops and practical skills will be taught by boomsatsuma, leaders in creative education across the South West. Mentoring and support will come from filmmakers across the city, supporting the participants to make a film about their own stories.

A report from the Work Foundation, A Skills Audit of the UK and Film and Screen Industries, recently found that the industry’s workforce does not reflect diversity in the UK, with only three per cent of employees in production from a minority ethnic background.

Anyone can register their interest in this course, but due to this gap in representation, priority will be given people from minority ethnic backgrounds, as well as young people who are not in education or employment

This is the first Stories From Our City course, so places are extremely limited.
